Northwich Christmas Extravaganza 2026 is Saturday 21 November, a week earlier than last year, with an artisan market on Witton Street from 10am to 7pm.
Northwich’s Christmas Extravaganza is on Saturday 21 November 2026, in the town centre. That is a week earlier than last year, when it ran on Saturday 29 November. The date comes from the event’s own listing on Visit Northwich, the town’s official visitor site, which was updated on 7 October and still says “more information coming soon”.
The quick answer
- Date: Saturday 21 November 2026, Northwich town centre
- Confirmed so far: the Christmas Artisan Market on Witton Street, 10am to 7pm
- Not yet published: the timetable, the lights switch-on time, and whether there are fireworks, a lantern parade or an ice rink this year
- Cost: in past years the activities have been free
- Is it on? Yes. The organisers have dated it and listed it among the town’s “showcase events” with Firefest on 7 November
What is confirmed for 2026
Only two things so far, both from Visit Northwich:
| What | When | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Christmas Extravaganza | Saturday 21 November, all day | Northwich town centre, CW9 5DH |
| Christmas Artisan Market | Saturday 21 November, 10am to 7pm | Witton Street, CW9 5DW |
The market listing describes it as part of the Extravaganza: “come along and shop a variety of Christmas products, food and gifts”. The town’s Christmas in Northwich page says more information on Christmas 2026 is “coming soon”.
What the day has looked like
These are the last two years, from Visit Northwich’s own posts. They show the shape of the day, not this year’s programme.
2025, Saturday 29 November. Visit Northwich’s save the date promised a town centre “packed with free activities, family entertainment and seasonal sparkle”. Rotary in Northwich opened its Santa’s grotto at Barons Quay, outside Wildwood, on the same day, and ran it on December Saturdays afterwards (Visit Northwich).
2024, Saturday 23 November. The fuller programme was (Visit Northwich):
- a start at 11am, with free activities including Christmas crazy golf, a craft village and face painting
- a 15-stall Christmas market at Apple Market Place
- a lantern parade from Waitrose at 5pm, leading to the Christmas lights switch-on in Barons Square at 5.30pm
- a fireworks display at 6pm
- the launch of a Christmas window trail with prizes
If 2026 follows that pattern, the evening is the busy part: a parade, the switch-on and fireworks in about an hour. We will not know until the organisers publish the timetable, and we will add it here as soon as they do.
Parking
Baron’s Quay in Northwich is a free council car park, 900 spaces with a four hour maximum stay, and Central Palace Drive is reserved for blue badge holders. The full list is on our parking page. No road closures have been published for the day; check roadworks and travel before you set off.
Christmas elsewhere in the district
- Chester: the Christmas market opens on Wednesday 18 November and the 12 Days of Christmas Parade is the next evening, Thursday 19 November (Christmas market, lights and parade).
- Santa: grottos and Santa breakfasts across the district are on our Santa grotto page.
What we will do with this page
We will add the timetable, the switch-on time, any fireworks and the Rotary grotto dates when they are published, and the road closures if the council issues an order. Everything else on in the next six weeks is in what’s on in Chester.
