The Cycle Hub in Queensferry has won Independent Bike Dealer of the Year at the BikeBiz Awards 2026, beating six other UK shops in an industry public vote.

The Cycle Hub, the family-run bike shop on Interlinq Trade Park in Queensferry, has been named Independent Bike Dealer of the Year at the BikeBiz Awards 2026.

The shop collected the national award, sponsored by V12 Retail Finance, at the BikeBiz ceremony in Birmingham on 15 October. It was one of seven independent bike shops from across the UK on the shortlist.

The category is open to bricks-and-mortar bike retailers, and to businesses mainly doing repairs and servicing, that run three stores or fewer. This year’s winner was decided by a public vote open to the cycling industry, so the result came from the trade itself rather than a judging panel.

“Bringing the award home to Queensferry is a huge honour,” said Richard Horsley, who founded the shop.

“More than somewhere that simply sells bikes”

Mr Horsley said the shop was built on a simple idea:

“We founded The Cycle Hub with a simple belief: cyclists deserve honest advice, friendly service and workshop expertise they can trust. We wanted to create more than somewhere that simply sells bikes. We wanted to build a shop that listens to its customers, supports riders throughout their cycling journey and becomes a genuine part of the local cycling community.”

He credited the staff and the shop’s regulars:

“This award belongs to our entire team. Their knowledge, care and commitment are behind everything we have achieved. It also belongs to our customers, whose loyalty, recommendations and encouragement have allowed an independent family business like ours to grow and succeed.”

He also thanked the shop’s suppliers and brand partners, naming Merida, Madison, Mondraker, ABUS, ZyroFisher, Chicken CycleKit, PON.Bike, Marin, Silverfish UK and Ison Distribution.

“Whether somebody is choosing their first bike, preparing for a major event or trying to keep a much-loved bicycle running, our aim is always the same: to understand what they need and provide the right advice and support. Winning Independent Bike Dealer of the Year is a wonderful recognition of that approach. It gives us even more determination to keep improving, supporting our customers and encouraging more people to enjoy cycling.”
